China and Switzerland will use the new certificate of origin from September 1, 2021, and the maximum number of commodities in the certificate will be increased from 20 to 50, which will provide greater convenience for enterprises. There is no change in the declaration of origin according to the current method. 

From September 1st, China and Sweden will no longer issue old certificates. The “optional items” are deleted from the third and tenth columns of the new certificate of origin issued by Switzerland. Therefore, the third and tenth columns are no longer optional items but should be filled.

At the time of import, China’s customs can accept the old certificate of origin issued before

September 1, but the date of issuance (CUSTOMS ENDORSEMENT) must be consistent with the version format.

After September 1, the old certificate of origin of domestic export enterprises was lost. Can it be reissued?

It can be reissued. Contact the original issuing agency for re-issuance. The replacement certificate is the new version of China-Sweden Certificate of Origin.

Is it valid for domestic import enterprises to hold the old China-Sweden Certificate of Origin for import customs clearance?

Effective. However, it must be ensured that the date of the stamp in the eleventh column of the Certificate of Origin Customs is before August 31, 2021 (inclusive), and the number of commodities contained cannot exceed 20.

Is there any change in the declaration of origin issued by the exporter?

Declaration of origin is also an evidence document of origin.  However, this revision only aims at the revision of the certificate of origin format, and the declaration of origin is not affected. The declaration of origin is issued by the approved exporters of Chinese and Swiss enterprises, such as advanced AEO enterprises and Swiss AEO enterprises. Both parties hold the approved exporter numbers.
